HFM BOCES 2012-15 Professional Development Plan

Three goals have been established for the 2012-15 Professional Development Plan for HFM BOCES staff. These include:

• HFM BOCES staff will implement the NYS Common Core Learning Standards and will develop and implement appropriate strategies to address student academic and career development needs.

• HFM BOCES staff will develop and implement strategies that foster positive student social behaviors and attitudes that enable learning, including staff training to prevent school violence.

• Division-specific goals, which may include integrating the use of technology to enhance learning, as well as improving communication within BOCES.

How to register for a course

If you wish to participate in a training program, please e-mail the sponsoring department to let us know to reserve a place for you. Then, complete the appropriate paperwork and return it to us prior to the deadline.

Important: If you work for a BOCES or school, please have your superintendent or building administrator sign the form before sending it to us. If you are paying for the course yourself, please include payment, if applicable, with your form.

Trainings/Workshops

	Meeting the needs of students with autism HFM BOCES Instructional Services offers a three-hour workshop that fulfills the training requirement under New York State Education Law for a teacher or administrator applying for certification in the area of special education. Download a registration form here Workshop dates: • Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 • Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2012 • Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 • Thursday, April 11, 2013 • Tuesday, June 4, 2012 Workshops are scheduled from 4-7 p.m. at the HFM BOCES Conference Center. 2755 State Hwy 67, Johnstown, NY. 	Hazcom and Right-To-Know training classes scheduled for BOCES staff HFM BOCES employees are required to attend annual training for Hazardous Communications and the Right-To-Know law. This is mandatory as stated in Article 28 Section S 878 of the Labor Laws by the New York State Department of Labor. Training sessions for substitute teachers • Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, 4 p.m. • Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, 4 p.m. • Wednesday, April 10, 2013, 4 p.m. • Web-based HazCom training is being implemented for future training. 	Training Courses for School Bus Drivers, Monitors and Attendants HFM BOCES offers training courses for new and experienced bus drivers, monitors and attendants. New bus drivers are required to take the 30-hour Basic Course. Experienced bus drivers must take two two-hour refresher courses annually.
