Regional Summer School
set for 2012
Registration in home districts conclude June 22
UPDATE:
JUNE 15, 2012 - Open registration in
the nine component school districts that will participate in
HFM BOCES regional summer school will conclude on Friday, June
22.
Students will have one more chance to register at a late
registration from 8 a.m. - noon on Wednesday and Thursday,
June 27-28 at Gloversville High School. A student’s
eligibility for summer school is based on guidelines
established by his or her home district.
Students from non-component districts may pay tuition
individually and register for classes through a participating
district.
Nine component school districts will participate in
HFM BOCES regional summer school program for students in grades
9-12. The seven-week program, hosted by Gloversville High School, is
designed to help students that require classes to graduate on
time.
Classes begin on Tuesday, July 3, and are offered
Monday-Thursday in three, two-hour sessions per day. Classes
will also be held on two Fridays, July 8 and 13, but there will be no other
Friday classes. The
program offers courses at all grade levels in
English, social studies, math, and science, as well as Health.
Regents exams will be administered Aug. 16-17.
Mrs. Christine Pietro, an assistant principal at Amsterdam High
School, will serve as co-principal of the regional summer school,
along with HFM BOCES Career and Technical Education Coordinator
Duilio Viscusi.
This is the fourth year for the shared program, which was
inaugurated in July, 2009 at Johnstown High School.
Broadalbin-Perth hosted more than 600 students in 2010.
Gloversville High School hosted the successful program in 2011.
The nine HFM BOCES districts participating in the 2012
program are Amsterdam, Broadalbin-Perth, Canajoharie, Fort Plain,
Gloversville, Johnstown, Mayfield, Northville, and St. Johnsville.
Transportation to Gloversville High School may be provided by
the individual school districts, not by BOCES.

school to area high school students.

Where is the Regional Summer School being held?
All classes will be held at Gloversville High School, 199
Lincoln St., Gloversville.
From Fonda (Route 30A):
Follow Route 30A through Johnstown. Turn left onto Harrison
Street.
Turn right at the traffic light onto South Main Street. Turn
slight left onto Broad Street. Continue across West Fulton
St./Rte. 29A.
Turn left onto Lincoln Street.
From Amsterdam (Route 30)
Take Route 30 north to Route 29. Turn left onto Route 29 (east)
and follow Route 29 to the intersection of NY-29A/Turkey Farm
Road/County Route127. Continue to follow Rte. 29A. Turn right
onto Orchard Street.
Turn left onto Lincoln Street.

What are the dates and times for summer school?
Summer school begins on Tuesday, July 3. Classes will be held
Monday-Thursday, July 3 - Aug. 15, as well as Friday, July 8
and 13.
There will be no other Friday classes. There will be three
sessions per day, from 7:30-9:20 a.m., 9:30-11:20 a.m., and
11:30 a.m. -1:20 p.m. Regents exams will be administered Aug.
16-17.

How do students register?
Students in participating schools may pre-register in their home
districts June 1-22. Late registrants may register at
Gloversville High School on June 27-28.

What if my child is not a
resident in a participating district?
Students who live in a non-participating district may attend if
their parents/guardians make arrangements directly with a
participating district. Parents would be required to pay $70 per
course for tuition to the school district submitting the
application. Payment is by check or money order only.

What about younger students?
Parents should check with their home districts to see if they
are offering summer school for lower grade levels.

Is Drivers’ Education being offered?
No. Check with your home district for the availability of
Drivers’ Ed.

What is the attendance policy for Regional
Summer School?
More than three absences or six occasions of tardiness from any course will result in removal
from that course. No excuses for absences or tardiness will be
accepted.

Is there a Code of Conduct for
Regional Summer School?
Yes. Students must adhere to the Gloversville High School Code
of Conduct. Copies are available upon request or online at

Is transportation provided?
HFM BOCES is not providing transportation. Check with your home
districts to see if transportation will be offered to and from
summer school.

Walk-in Regents/RCT Registrations
Walk-in Regents/RCT Registration forms must be completed at the
home school and submitted to BOCES by July 13. Late
registrations will only be accepted with a guidance counselor’s
signature and student’s signature prior to exam day. The fee for
students from non-participating school districts is $12 per
exam, payable to the district submitting the application by
check or money order only.
Uniform Statewide Admission Deadline
Morning tests - 9:15 a.m.
Afternoon tests - 1:15 p.m.
