PTECH programs to locate 9th- and 10th-graders in Glebe Street school

Because of the changing needs of the Greater Johnstown School District, HFM PTECH programs will be based at Glebe Street Elementary School instead of Jansen Avenue Elementary School for the 2020-21 school year and beyond.

The three HFM BOCES Pathways in Technology Early College High School programs — Agriculture PTECH in St. Johnsville, Foothills PTECH at Johnstown High School and PTECH at Jansen Avenue School — are planning to co-locate beginning this July. HFM PTECH Principal Matt Davis said the move to Glebe is a welcome one as the PTECHs transition to one location for their ninth- and 10th-graders.

“The Glebe Street building offers some great benefits when compared with the Jansen school. It has a cafeteria, and it has more parking space, which will better serve our expanded school community,” Davis said, adding that the Glebe Street School has undergone recent updates to its infrastructure and has outdoor space that will work well for PTECH’s agriculture program.

Davis said the Glebe Street building will serve as an apt location for the PTECH staff and students to settle into. “We are very much looking forward to building our new PTECH community in the Glebe Street building,” he said.

During the coming weeks, HFM BOCES will assess the Glebe Street School and PTECH’s programmatic needs and will begin making plans for the transition from the three current PTECH buildings into that space. Any necessary updates to the building will be completed this summer.

PTECH 11th-graders will be based at the HFM BOCES and FMCC campuses, and 12th- 14th-graders will attend either FMCC or SUNY Cobleskill depending on their degree pathway.
