HFM BOCES is offering a new computer and internet skills course to help adult English language learners who are seeking employment in the workforce.
The course will help adult students prepare for the IC3 Certification Exam and earn their Digital Literacy Certificate, which indicates to employers that candidates have essential computer and internet skills needed in the workplace.
The course covers the skills and knowledge required for basic use of computer hardware, software, networks, and the internet. Students are assessed in three areas: computing fundamentals (hardware, software, security and operating systems), key applications (word processor, presentation, spreadsheet, database and graphics) and living online (internet, electronic mail and social media).
Registration for the course will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Amsterdam Literacy Zone, located at the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church St. in Amsterdam.
Students must be 18 years of age or older, be job-seekers and have intermediate or advanced English language skills. Candidates will be assessed at registration for eligibility. The training is offered at no cost to students. Students will receive English language instruction needed to support success in the training course.
The course will run for seven weeks, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. starting Monday, Sept. 30. To reserve a seat, and for more information, call 518-212-6120.
