Many programs in HFM BOCES Career and Technical Education Center (CTC) have eligibility agreements to earn college credit with community colleges, universities, and technical schools. These articulation agreements result in the awarding of related college/university credit to students who successfully complete their CTC curriculum. The CTC has entered into articulation agreements to assist students in meeting their educational goals. See the current list here.
The benefits of articulation are:
• Earn college credits while still in high school
• Advanced credit standing in a post-secondary institution
• Encourage post-secondary studies
• Save money on tuition fees and books
• Accelerate progress
• Reduce duplication of instruction
• Improve job readiness skills
The credits are available at no cost to students who enroll full time at the colleges and trades schools with whom the CTC has entered into an agreement. A CTC program must have a pre-arranged agreement to offer articulated credits with a post-secondary institution.
To be eligible for articulation credits students must meet certain criteria including grade point average and classroom attendance. Other criteria may apply depending on the program. Students need to complete an application (depending on the institution) to be eligible to receive the credits. Most applications require verification by the CTC instructor before credit is awarded. This process should be initiated prior to summer vacation.
College Articulation Credit Declaration of Intent (This declaration form is used to ensure that students understand their role in securing college credit for the work they do. The form indicates the student’s intent to pursue articulated credits in a particular program; it does not guarantee the actual earning of college credit.)
Questions about the articulation process can be directed to your child’s CTC teacher, or contact Counselor Kathy Daly, (518) 736-4626.
