SLS Administrator of the Year Award

The person to be nominated for the School Library System Administrator of the Year Award exhibits leadership in recognizing the library media center as an integral part of the total school program and has an active personal involvement in the program.

Leadership is evidenced by:

• Support for adequate staffing.
• Support for adequate operating budget for materials and equipment.
• Personal knowledge of what library automation offers the students – i.e. critical thinking skills.
• Inclusion of the library media specialist in curriculum planning.
• Recognition of the role of the library media specialist in meeting the NYS Standards via classroom collaboration, etc.
• Whenever possible, administrative support for flexible scheduling.
• Support of professional growth.
• Recognition of the value of the school library media specialist’s involvement in affairs beyond the local school setting (i.e. SLS, public library)
