GlobalFoundries (GF) is a leading global semiconductor manufacturing company headquartered in Malta, NY that creates essential chips powering the technologies that people and industries rely on. By partnering with its customers, GF brings innovations to life, shaping how we live, work, and connect. At GF, there is a vibrant work environment where collaboration and innovation thrive, as they build the workforce of the future.

One of the key pathways for developing this workforce is GF’s partnership with HFM PTECH.

Marc Arseneault, a Senior Equipment Engineer from GlobalFoundries, speaks at the 2024 completion ceremony. Arseneault has been a frequent visitor at PTECH’s Workplace Wednesday seminars.

“Sometimes people are unaware of all the different kinds of innovation we do and the career opportunities available here,” said Christine McLear, Workforce Development Manager at GF. “Our partnership with HFM BOCES and the PTECH program has been instrumental in widening our talent pipeline pathways and reaching students earlier who may be a good fit for our industry. It allows us to connect with students and their families, informing them about the exciting career opportunities we have to offer.”

GF has been a business partner with PTECH since its inception – aligned with their shared focus on the education community and inspiring students to explore semiconductor manufacturing. Their partnership together includes professional skills development, site tours, job shadowing, and internships.

PTECH is part of the diverse career pathways portfolio that helps GF to connect and work directly with students early on, sparking meaningful conversations and laying the groundwork for future internships and employment opportunities.

GF also partnered with PTECH on a job shadowing program, collaborating closely with HFM to design a robust program now run on-site at their Malta facility. This program has expanded to include all PTECH and CTE students across the Capital Region, providing valuable industry exposure and experience.

“The thoughtful design and implementation of HFM PTECH allow students in the program to gain significant industry exposure during their high school years. Students can either transition directly into the workforce with an industry partner or pursue a four-year degree while maintaining industry connections through paid summer internships,” said McLear.
