MJ Logan is a 2021 Program Completer who found PTECH’s project-based learning and free college tuition to be the major draws to the program.
“I was already interested in the idea of working on real-world projects and once they came to present at my school, I was sold,” said Logan.
An Amsterdam native who received her degree in Health Studies from SUNY FMCC, Logan also loved the idea of being able to reconnect with some of the upperclassmen she knew from middle school. Building relationships and working with others was an important part of the transition for her.
“A friend of mine talked a lot about the program and wanted to be accepted,” said Logan. “It made me excited to meet new people and get involved.”
Logan currently works as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Healthcare after receiving her associates degree in nursing. She says PTECH helped give her a boost in her professional life by improving her collaboration skills, learning to work cooperatively with others, and building her overall confidence.
“The skills I built at PTECH helped me long after graduation. I was able to go to interviews feeling confident and I’m able to interact better with patients in my current position.”
Logan is still working on her path to success and hopes to obtain her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and someday soon save enough money to purchase a home and take her family on a fun trip. She says her time at PTECH opened her up to a wider group of people and interests, promoting both independence and encouraging her to enjoy working with others. When asked what her favorite part of PTECH was, she simply said, “my friends.”
